Last night, after several days of consultation with my colleagues, I moved this simple item of urgent business.  Since the distribution of the Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey I have been approached by a number of LGBTIQ residents who have expressed feeling isolated, intimidated and unsafe at this time.  As a result of these conversations I felt that it was important for Council, in the spirit of our resolution of February 2017, to take action to support affected residents and employees.  Unfortunately I was not able to speak to the motion as the majority of my colleagues decided it should not be admitted to the agenda.  Despite Council's unwillingness to take action at this time, I will continue to advocate on behalf of my LGBTIQ constituents and their families.
